COLUMBUS, Ohio - A continuing care retirement community doubles its private rehabilitation apartments, giving guests a new way to recover.

Westminster-Thurber Community's The Rehab Studios now has 36 private studio apartments, featuring full bathrooms; cable TV; direct phone lines; daily housekeeping; delicious dining and 24/7 nursing care.

After a joint-replacement surgery, cardiac incident, stroke or other neurological condition, hospital patients need a place to heal, recover and transition -- many reserving their apartments in advance.

"We work hard to get people ready physically, emotionally and mentally so they can manage their lives independently again," says Marketing Director Joel Wrobbel.

A team of experts assesses each rehab guest and develops a personalized therapy plan that may include traditional therapies, such as physical; occupational and speech therapies, and/or alternative therapies such as ultrasound.

"We have a seasoned and caring staff trained to work with rehab guests and state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to help in the recovery process," says Wrobbel.

Westminster-Thurber Community is at 717 Neil Ave., Columbus. Call 614-228-8888 or go online to westminsterthurber.org.

Westminster-Thurber Community is one of 11 retirement communities owned and operated by OPRS Communities, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services (OPRS), headquartered in Columbus. Since 1922, OPRS has defined the highest standards of quality of life for older adults. Each year, OPRS serves more than 95,000 people in 41 counties through its wholly owned subsidiaries OPRS Communities and Senior Independence.
