David Schell

Breckenridge Village

David Schell began his work as the executive director of Breckenridge Village in Willoughby, Ohio in 1987. He also contributes to the greater OPRS organization as the regional vice president of operations assisting in operational oversight and planning in support of the OPRS mission.

David is a graduate of Ferris State University - Big Rapids, Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Management. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Grand Valley State University - Ada, Michigan. He is a licensed nursing home administrator in Ohio and Michigan.

The operations of Breckenridge under his leadership have received numerous awards and recognition including accreditation, business of the year, and consistently high survey results and satisfaction scores.

Besides operational excellence endeavors, David has played an integral role in fundraising activities, and spearheaded the largest and most successful individual capital campaign in OPRS history.  As a result, Breckenridge Village is benefiting from expanded nursing care, assisted living, a new cultural arts center, and a soon-to-be constructed wellness and fitness center.  The campaign raised a record $7.3 million dollars.

His passion, however, is operational and financial excellence in non-profit care. He shares his service with many other dedicated professionals on the staff that believe in the pursuit of excellence in older adult and related services.
